They called me, woke me up, and told me I had to go get it.

I was 4 hours into my 10 with 2 hours left on my 11 before I was assigned a load that picked up that same day 30 mins away from where I shut down.

Management can be a joke sometimes, and it’ll always be their word over yours. If I already have a load that delivers tomorrow at 5 pm and I’m 6 hours away, why would you assign me a load that picks up tomorrow at 7 pm that’s 4 hours away from where I’m delivering…then not only reprimand me for missing my appointment time, but also get on me for running out of hours and having to shut down for the night? They expect you to work around them and adjust to them, when they’re the ones assigning you the impossible. And others, they’ll put loads on you while you’re still under a load and reprimand you for not being able to pick up the pre-assigned load on time because you’ve ran your clock in a way that benefits delivering your current load. Some you can go the whole week with nothing but 100-200 mile loads. Some weeks you can go entire days with no loads. If you’re delivering a load that drops Friday, you can expect to take a 34 because you’re going to be sitting the whole weekend without a load. It can feel like harassment at times, because why would I wake up out of my sleep to answer your call when I just worked a 14 hour shift and I’m exhausted? Before, they’d assign you a load and only call if it was high-value…now they call every day, and will hound you until you answer regardless of whether you’re on your 10 or 34 and sleeping. I’m lucky to get 1000 miles a week, and luckier to see a check over $400. Everything before they were brought out by Knight/Swift was pretty decent…$1500 checks, 2500 weekly miles, always home on time, never any problems with my truck, no dispatchers micromanaging me.
